Meet Cihat, Software Engineer

This week, we caught up with Cihat, who joined the Fat Llama herd from Palantir in June last year.

What are you working on at the moment?

I’m focusing on making our lender experience much better. We’ve got some great changes coming up which will mean a much better mobile experience! Before that, I was working on improving the performance of our site and the verification process for borrowers.

“I fell in love with the mission as soon as I heard about it from our CEO. Besides, the people and the culture are quite amazing.”

What were you doing before you joined Fat Llama?

I’ve worked at much bigger software companies such as Facebook, Google, and Palantir. Most recently, I was at Palantir focusing on creating a powerful data analytics software to tackle important problems in energy, aviation, and insurance sectors.

What was the main thing that made you want to join the herd?

I fell in love with the mission as soon as I heard about it from our CEO. Besides, the people and the culture are quite amazing. I’ve been meaning to be part of a startup and Fat Llama is as good as one gets.

Best thing about being a software engineer here?

You work with a lot of inspiring people who genuinely care about the product and each other. The company culture is transparent and feedback-oriented too, which I truly adore.

Also, over the new year, we decided to have a team offsite in Ivory Coast. We rented out a big house by the beach in Assouinde, Ivory Coast for a week. We worked on some cool features, got to know each other better and enjoyed the great local cuisine and the ocean.

Outside of Fat Llama, what are you interested in tech at the moment?

I’m quite interested in the societal changes that’s happening with the impact of technology. There’s a lot to think about  privacy, impact of attention economy, and increasing inequality due to automation.
